Come to the Mountains
With These Wildflower Dreams
For Saxophone Quartet
Written for Saxophone Quartet, this piece is meant to be full of whimsy and playfulness. Starting with a processional opening call, and fading into a winding, foggy melody, the piece is meant to set the scene for walking in the woods. There is grandeur, mystery, and the ecosystem is active with quiet life. The rhythm picks up into a playful section meant to represent the “wildflower dreams”, the whimsical and frolicking nature of the meadow where the bees hum and the sun shines. Where one may want to run and skip through, feeling very much alive. The piece makes a full circle, from strolling through the forests of the mountains, to the meadows, and back to a peaceful melodic material to close out the piece.
This piece was recorded. by the Madison Saxophone Quartet at James Madison University
