Using the famous quote from one of Emily Dickinson’s letters as a reference:

“I am out with lanterns, looking for myself” and a line from Samuel Beckett: “I can’t go on. I will go on”, this piece was written in about 24 hours at the Sherborne Summer School of Music.

I had been looking to write something that felt more authentic to the music that I felt proud of, and this is was what came to be.

Premiered by myself and two other wonderful colleagues at the summer school, “Lanterns” is a piece for those looking to heal things up and begin anew.
