Sagebrush Sea

Sagebrush Sea was born from a passage by the Nature Conservancy: “Sometimes a landscape can trick you. What looks barren can teem with life. What feels endless can meet its limits. What seems plain can be magical. The Sagebrush Sea stretches wide across the American West—a vast, vital tapestry of ecology, economy, and culture.”

When MFA invited me to compose a piece, I sought to reference the vibrant landscape we call home. The sagebrush of Montana, a cherished memory from my childhood, flows through this piece in shifting textures and a melody that sings a love song to this land. Through music, I hope to awaken reverence for these fragile ecosystems—and inspire us to protect their quiet beauty.
