Confluence: 2 pianos, 4 hands

The confluence of the Madison, Jefferson, and Gallatin rivers that form the mighty Missouri is one of both power and grace.

Water is something to be admired, the way it adapts to every environment, flows around every obstacle and never loses site of its end. While it has many temperaments, the river continues on.

The rapids, the flowing current, the ripples over gravel, all belong to a river’s identity and the life it supports.

The two pianos start with very individual parts, winding and weaving around each other until the climactic rush towards glissandi, and the return of a short melody as if the river could sing.

Once the two pianos come together, they end in a slowing flow.
