Piano Trio No. 1: Sensations

Piano Trio No. 1: Sensations

I. Coddiwompling

II. Ambedo

For this trio, I selected two words that contained meanings that I often think about, but didn’t know how to say.

They are as follows:

I. Coddiwompling

To move with purpose in no particular direction

In this movement, I tried to encompass jauntiness with a mix of uncertainty and purpose. The ⅝ meter propels the piece forward and the piano’s first groove is passed throughout the ensemble.

II. Ambedo

The feeling of being completely absorbed in vivid sensory details, a kind of melancholic trance where one is deeply immersed in the present moment. It's a feeling of being alive and soaking in the experience of one's surroundings, often with a touch of melancholy.

I love the feeling that this word describes, especially when going on walks and enjoying the small details that make life interesting. Things like the sun coming through the branches, smelling an old perfume someone used to wear, and remembering who you used to be and are not anymore.
